UTTERPOWER PMG News

Added note 5/4/2011

Utterpower PMG rest in peace… After a lot of effort, time and money spent, it’s time to scrap my plans to sell additional PMGs.  It’s my opinion that the PMG is now too expensive to build because of the mind boggling rise in the price of rare earth. . If you have one, you have a rarity.

I am working on the idea of selling an E book that will tell the story of this my frustrating adventure..  adventure..

So what’s up with this back order situation??

Many of you are frustrated that you can’t order Utterpower PMGs, the back order is still in place as you likely know.

One of  the problems is getting the quality of materials we need for magnets, and then getting  them charged and certified to meet our rigid standards. Without high quality and very closely matched magnets, we can’t deliver the excellent voltage droop figures we brag about.  There are others who assume that a graded magnet are good enough, and maybe they are for their requirements or product.  I’d rather not sell anything than to sell what I know will be a problem or disappointment to my customer.

We have received another shipment of magnets that do NOT meet our spec….. close, but just not right. If we used them, I’d expect a little too much voltage droop, and likely a higher THD. We’d like to keep our bragging rights on the super low THD we know we can deliver.  There are others who sell PMGs now, I doubt they have the same standards, so maybe they’re in stock there, and maybe they will work for you?

I’m simply not going to promise any more arrival dates, we’ll get the quality when we get it I guess. My apologies.

What you need to know about small engines and ethanol blended fuels.

We want our generators to work when we need them. Using gasoline blended with ethanol should only be used in cars that are driven often AND have fuel systems that don’t breath. If you have a vented gas tank, you should expect trouble, and might see it the first day.

Here’s two websites you should consider book marking.

http://www.fuel-testers.com/index.html

http://e0pc.com/

lots of really good information. Unless you are sure you can get a supply of straight gas now and in the future, you should rule out gasoline generators period! (unless you don’t need your generator to run when you try starting it.)

KISS Engineered and Simple are not the same things.

I’m not sure that my definition of KISS is the same as the next persons. I think the best example of KISS comes from overly complex designs that have evolved over several generations to become more simplified. The best of KISS designs are tools or machines that allow us to enjoy a high level of productivity through their use, but they’re not overly complex.

Here’s an example of simple, but we best avoid using the term “KISS engineered”.

The EPA, our Largest Liability?

If you’ve been following the news, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac cost US Tax Payers Billions thanks to a total lack of Government oversight, and of course managers who acted more like crime bosses.  Now we’re also paying millions for all the court cases and attorneys with no end in sight. read this article carefully.   http://www.npr.org/2011/01/24/133188021/Taxpayers-Paid-Millions-In-Fannie-Freddie-Legal-Fees

Many believe the EPA is in the process of creating the mother of all liabilities for the American people. The EPA is in court every day, they could be successfully sued for damages with awards in the trillions of dollars. Of course they don’t have any money to defend themselves, or to pay the damages their decisions might have already created.  Same as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, you the American Tax Payer will be asked to do that for them.  Sound impossible? No more impossible to believe than some of the things that have already happened….

Read this carefully… http://co2insanity.com/2011/01/25/eco-lawyer-humiliated-in-gaffe-over-climate-victims-lawsuit-claims. Remember, no one seemed worried about Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac,… until it was too late… most of us understand that the EPA is a Frankenstein, and it’s out of control. But the truth is,…. you’ll pay the bills for the damages awarded, and that may be soon.

I expect interest in this page (topic) to grow, there is no doubt in my mind that many of the EPA’s decisions are based on BAD science. This will be proven in court, unfortunately, you will pay for all the damages one way or another, but let’s hope there’s some jail time coming for those that have worked overtime to promote an agenda instead of science, They effectively cripple our economy by forcing our industry and utilities to spend countless billions at a time we need productivity most. There are lives hanging in the balance.  A modest rise in the cost of food production here likely means that people in the third world will starve. I believe there are gluttonous fat cats like Algore that think this is the way to bringthe planet back into balance, people in the thrid world are less important, and it’s hard to manage the damage they do to the environment. Of course their beliefs always seem to align with wealth creation for themselves doesn’t it?

Below are examples of law suits against the EPA, there are far more you can search up. You know our Frankenstien (EPA) plans to replicate what they do here in other areas.   We need ask, is it only the EPA and GOD who seem to have no accountability?

Consider the small engine shop… they’re going out of business simply because they can no longer maintain your small equipment, one example is the Carb, it’s now built the way an EPA bureaucrat wants it built, impossible to clean, impossible to maintain. there will be a lot of small shops that have been in business of 30 or more years that will close, because without the basic tune up and maintenance work, there’s not enough to keep the doors open. Will these small shop owners join in on a class action law suit and successfully share a part of the awards?

If you have a piece of land that you are going to put a septic system on, best do it now, since the EPA is GOD like, a system might soon cost $90,000 and up, and all of them will have active elements. Since power could fail, will you be required to install an expensive solar system to back up the power? I guess that’s a decision the EPA will make, and there might be little you have to say about it. your septic system might soon cost more to build than your house.. go ahead and laugh…you may not laugh very long..

Expect to see a WEBsite where you can enter informaton about your small business failure, and your request to join a class action lawsuit.. it’s coming.

Email of the Day 01/25/11 Earth’s Gravity

From: Terry
Sent: Monday, January 24, 2011 10:29 PM
Subject: gravity

OK, this might sound dumb but,why do we have gravity here on earth? is it the mass of the earth holding us down or is it the rotation of the earth that’s holding us down? or both? Terry

Answer:

The Earth’s mass creates the force we call gravity. It’s a force still not totally understood.

One fact:  Mass alters time, our GPS system relies on time to calculate where you are on earth.

If the system didn’t  make corrections for time differences between the GPS satellite ring and the earth’s surface, it wouldn’t have enough accuracy for most things..

If you had a twin brother who lived his live at 10,000 feet elevation, he’d become a different age than you living at sea level.

A mass will also bend light, we can see light from beyond our sun, and measure the bending effect of the Sun’s mass.  keep this separate from a magnetic field, that’s another amazing thing, and I put a page up about this. There is so much misinformation about our magnetic field. Fact is…we’d have no atmosphere here on earth wihtout it….all would be blown into space by the solar winds (particles).

There are now some fairly good TV programs about our solar system that discuss some of these things. A great book to read is “A history of time” Stephen Hawkings, a permanent book for the shelf.  Bottom line?  Gravity is relative to mass,  go to the moon, and you don’t weigh as much. If you take a 100 pound weight to the moon, and put it on an accurate scale, the number of pounds it weighed would reveal the weight of the moon relative to the mass of the earth as a percentage.

Got something to add or correct, please do!

EPA pushing to remove all the Zinc out of lube oil?

You might want to do a little research on the additive Zinc. There are a number of reports of flat cams in older engines and more due to the EPA forcing the removal of the very effective anti wear agent “Zinc”. Some of the currently blended oils have zero Zinc. You can argue the point, but when you buy a $58,000 pickup truck with a diesel in it, you want it to live as long as possible. IF you don’t have a Cat, and it’s legal to run this additive, you might give more thought to which oil you use in your truck, and what you might add to it.  There have been tests that have demonstrated Zinc does wonders to extend engine life, and one example is reduced wear in pistons, ring lands, and more. Engine manufacturers may be willing to say things are just peachy without these popular anti wear agents, but they care most about meeting warranty and getting along with the EPA I would think.  I think what we need do is watch what the fleets of over the road trucks do… I doubt they’ll want to live with any less service out of an engine, I hope we hear from informed people as to what might work to assure the same or greater engine protection.

If you have older collectables or stationary engines, you might put this topic higher up on your “things to research list”.  We should expect increased wear when we use lube oils without Zinc in engines with flat tappets.  This could have a very significant impact on engine life and the real cost per KWH when you’re off grid and
forced to roll your generator on days the sun doesn’t shine, do what you can to protect your engine, and read about the anti-corrosion protection these agents offer as well.  Well insulated Generator Sheds where temperatures are more constant, and temperatures change more slowly can help control condensation. This is a first step in controlling corrosion.

Here’s a few links, there’s lots of them. The PTFE crowd will claim their stuff is as good as Zinc.. but when the inventor and manufacturer of PTFE says it doesn’t offer benefits as an engine oil additive, why would you believe??

A Worthwhile You Tube Video

So as we busy bees are out there attempting to pay off and insane national debt, there are others sucking a government tit at the IPCC, the Met and God knows where else! Their contribution is to counter your effort.

Piers Corbyn has been getting a lot of attention lately, he even knows how to predict the weather, something the worthless tits at the MET have been unable to do….. you could have a lot of fun looking over his you tube video clips.. one of them follows, but by no means is it the best!

Piers is a “hands on” guy, no sense in trying to BS him, or bribe him..

The EPA might rethink their insane rule on C02.

Ok, put your coffee down..

Russ Davis, a friend of utterpower sent me this link below. Before you study it, there was a mention about the gulf oil spill here recently where scientists were trying to figure out where the methane in the water went? Wasn’t long and they blamed Mother Nature for doing away with the dangerous stuff that causes global warming. It appeared that bacteria had consumed the over abundance of the stuff, and of course the bugs didn’t bother getting a permit from the EPA before they made a good meal out of it..

Below is notice of a Biotech Company in the USA that received a patent for a ecoli bug genetically altered. It has an affection for C02, and it’s waste product is liquid hydrocarbons!

Imagine, the bugs or their keepers could get paid well to sequester dangerous C02, AND make Oil, Gasoline, Plastics, and far more from this evil outlawed CO2!

If there ever was a Trojan Horse drug onto our shores, the EPA is it.. sued for banning something, sued for not banning something (all at your expense), and now this! The thought of this becoming an economically viable way to make hydrocarbons gives me goose bumps!

Maybe cows will be allowed to exhale and fart in the future?  There’s a chance the EPA will reconsider, Cows and Cowboys alike will appreciate that..

Indian Standards

Lov14-1-vs-Jkson14-1

Lov14-1-vs-Jkson14-1

There’s every kind of opinion on public forums, when it comes to Indian Standards, you’ll find all too few.  About the time I think there are some standards, an email from down the street or off in some distant jungle tells me different.

Here’s some new knowledge from Jim H.

I sent him a Jkson 14/1 head gasket hoping it would fit his Lovson 14/1, notice the difference. One is slightly larger, and note that fifth stud hole on the JKson.

I remember talking to an Indian Friend about standards in slow speed… he said “we don’t have standards really “We all do as we think best”. The lesson? Never assume, especially when it comes to Indian slow speed. Best to send along a scan of your head gasket unless you ‘know’ it’s the same.

The People’s Car, Our friends over there can own it, but you can’t!

Suzuki Swift Turbo

I’ve mentioned the little Suzuki Swift Turbo Inter-cooled Diesel Before, this is a prime example of the auto that MIT said would likely rule the road as per efficiency through the year 2040.  Nothing  on the drawing board comes close to the compression  ignition engine which delivers far more work for the energy dollar.

At 61.4 MPG, and with performance auto enthusiasts are giddy over, you can travel 30,000 miles for the same money it cost to purchase and install the optional 240 VAC home charger for the Chevy Volt!  When you consider that the inner city crowd make up the majority of folks attracted to the Chevy Volt, and the limited amount of miles they drive, the cost of the Volt home battery charger and installation could pay for all the fuel the Suzuki might use over the average period of ownership for this group of drivers.  This is based on $3 a gallon fuel cost, and the information I found on the GM Chevy Volt forum.  The optional charger allows you to charge the battery in as little as four hours, the 120 volt charger system won’t cut it for most drivers.

Of course your friends who are all excited by the Chevy Volt will think this Zuk is a stinker! Nothing  could be further from the truth, read the article..  http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews/car-and-driving/suzuki-swift-1.3-ddis-1004762.html

The only thing that stands between us and the People’s Car is the EPA. There’s a new conspiracy theory I heard… was it out of wikileaks? It’s reported that American Big Oil bribed top officials at the EPA in order to keep the super high efficiency vehicles out of the Country….. Ralph Nader Killed the Corvair, and now this… when will the corruption end? When will the American public be able to own the cars they want?

As I look at the hybrids and think about the advantages we might all visualize in stop and go traffic, my thoughts are interruped by reality.. I think of all the days here that it’s so wet, the windshield wipers on, the heater and defrosters going to keep a safe view of the road in all directions, and other reasons the power consumption is high.  About the time these conditions let up, it’s too hot, the AC is on as we watch the heat waves rise from the hot asphalt. But there’s more to think about. In EV mode, we might charge batteries  off the grid, but what kind of losses have we then inserted between the distant prime mover and the rear wheels of our Car? What investment will it take to assure the grid can handle the charge current of all these EVs?

Some will note, compression ignition engines run cool while idling, it’s a sign of their far better efficiency, and under realistic conditions, and over a reasonable periods of time, it’s going to be very difficult for the EVs to deliver cost per mile at less cost than a diesel like the Zuk. I say the Volt doesn’t have a chance. History will tell. The Zuk Diesel is my choice for ‘Car of the Year’

OK, OK, I can hear it now..some will say.. “you don’t understand, the Volt is no People’s car, there’s more luxury here, it’s a step up from your diesel Zuk” my reply… “Then why are all Americans forced to subsidize it, let the wealthier people buy their own Volt”.

All the best,
George B.
