Dear Gordon,

I’d like to reference the June issue of Stationary Engine, #423.

Page 3, “Bridging the Power Gap by Gordon Wright” It’s wonderful to see articles about matters of importance in SE.

During the 10 or more years I have been actively studying, researching, and consulting in Alternative Energy matters, I have seen a very clear and consistent pattern in emails and requests from persons who profess to be hard core environmentalists of the Green kind. First I’d like to say that it is only rational to embrace cleaner air, and to reduce emissions, but…

The Greenies (as I refer to them) generally have zero understanding of energy, they often do not know the difference between a WATT and a BTU. What is most frightful is they have no clue as to what can be run off a Solar panel, some think you could run a whole factory off a few panels.  Anything NUKE is bad regardless of our need and the alternatives, the amazing progress in plant technology, the outstanding safety records of modern power plants are of no interest to them.

Greenies often have no basis for understanding even the fundamentals of physics. I should have saved all the emails from Greenies so you could marvel at their ideas to save the planet. One Greenie writes that he has a 15HP motor turning at rated speed.. He has measured the Amps and the Voltage the motor is drawing, and concluded he is running it for near free! He wants to buy a generator from me and will use the motor to drive the generator and then sell back the power he makes to the power company. Never does it cross his mind that an electric motor might draw more KVA when a load is placed on it! He is certain that he has discovered something overlooked!  This is all too typical of the Greenie, they often have degrees in Philosophy, English, or similar, degrees that are helpful when applying for jobs as Night Managers in the fast food industry.

What should bother us most is the Career Politician, Greenies vote, and many in power (regardless of country) care most about their re-election. I think the survival of our countries is far less important to them.

How did France manage to dismiss all the concerns from the Greenies among them? This is worth study I think.

If you think it can’t get worse, imagine… Al Gore could have been born a Brit!

Thank you for SE, I hope you continue to help keep some of these important concerns in the fore front.

Note to those who visit this page, SE maintains a WEBsite  here, there are a lot of pages in their magazine suitable for framing!

 All the best,

George Breckenridge
