OLD STYLE LISTERS

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

How many times have we been told that?

As of  08_2008, there are NO Indian engines that are consistent in their manufacture. Without adequate QC methods, you will always evaluate the Indian slow speed engine as an individual. Over the years I have seen many posts where new sellers tell of their superior engines that need nothing.

In my mind.. It remains a fact that these engines are for the DIYer, a person with the skills to verify they have been put together with some degree of accuracy, and to correct items found wrong..

Those who promise more stand out amongst the flock, are they lost sheep or wolves? that's likely your first assessment.

I have spent years studying the Indian Engines, the pressures applied to their markets, and to their manufacturing efforts. The ever escalating cost of commodities, the rising fuel costs have had their impact, and moving this heavy iron across country is more expensive than ever before. What impacts will this have to the manufacturer of these old heavy designs and the demand for them?

As for Bringing these engines up to standards, it is best left to the hobbyist, opening an Indian engine crate can be a large job all by itself, going though one of these engines with North American labor and prepping them for resale >outside< the DIYer market will likely take some kind of magic in order to profit.

If someone tells you different, I think there's reason for you to be skeptical.
