There are people who believe in the free lunch in energy as well as a free lunch in finance. I get emails more often that you'd think from folks that know free energy is possible through the use of magnets and of course through the production of hydrogen. There is a direct correlation between the mechanically challenged and those who don't seem to understand how a Nation creates wealth. Read this page and then conduct some social experiments of your own.

The magnet nuts place two magnets in their hands and feel the pull, in their minds this is energy! Those of us with the most basic understanding of energy know that energy can do work. Take torque for instance; we know that in the case of an electric motor... Torque multiplied by RPMs gives us a horsepower figure at the shaft. We also know that we could measure the drag or pull while towing a vehicle (strain gauge) and knowing it's speed we could calculate the energy being used to maintain it's forward motion. If we look at the magnet, we have a force (pull), but no movement. Torque times zero equals zero, and thus we have zero form of energy. But in the mind of the 'Free Lunchers', they visualize a mechanical 'slight of hand' that keeps repositioning these magnets and produces a 'free lunch'. A DIYer remembers he had to make an effort to pull the magnets apart and the attraction that pulls them back together cancels his effort. If you do a web search on free energy and similar BS, you will find a near endless amount of links, and some where you can actually invest in this insanity!

When you find a person who believes in a free lunch in physics, you often find a person who believes in a free lunch in finance as well. In their mind; one can create wealth simply by printing money. Socialists and Progressives stay in power only because they convince the most inexperienced among us that the free lunch is possible, "vote for us and we'll make your life easier and secure". A progressive believes once they are in power, they can make the adjustments necessary to stay in power. They ignore all of history and all we know about human behavior. A progressive sees himself as the leader of the movement, he never sees himself as the useful idiot who follows.

At the heart of the Obama movement are 'Free Lunchers', (those who vote for the free lunch), this is why American Socialists ignore the borders and form sanctuary cities like San Francisco and Seattle, they know of the damage it does, and the crime it brings, but those who fall for the free lunch are expected to keep them in power by voting for the promised free lunch.

These 'useful idiots' put all of civilization at risk when they vote for the free lunch. History gives us plenty of examples of what happens every time... those who work hard quit working, those who innovate quit innovating.

It's May 25th 2010, you have likely overheard or have been part of a conversation where a young person tells you that European Socialists have the answer! They all have a high standard of living and enjoy life. My answer to folks like this is why not invest in the Euro? Why not move to Europe? The truth is the EU is ready to come apart at the seams, and few are happy. No matter how the Socialist deceive themselves, the end of the EU is coming. What we are seeing right now is resentment among those who create wealth and the free loaders in Europe who spend what they created. It happens every time, and the outcome is most predictable. Let's use West Germany for an example, there are people here who still work hard, and they are looking at the Lazy ones in Greece who are all on vacation and spending Euros as fast as the ink dries. These Germans are aware that their Greek EU Brothers are dragging down the value of the Euro while they take government provided vacations in the South of France, yes! it's a right, not a privilege.

Here's your homework... next time you are forced to sit in the company cafeteria with a Socialist who is telling all why the government should run it all, wait for a bit and change the topic to energy. My bet is 9 times out of 10 you will find a person so challenged, he or she won't know the difference between torque and horsepower. No matter how few facts a socialist has, he will always know he is right.

Remember the 200 MPG carburetor your useful idiot socialist friend told you about? The patent was bought up by Big Oil and he was cheated out of a near free ride! Never mind that this idiot doesn't seem to know what a patent is, and "to patent" and to "keep secret" are oxymoron's.

If we take his example of the 200 MPG carburetor, this folklore feat is often carried out using a 1970 Oldsmobile Station Wagon, or something equally heavy and having a drag coefficient equal to or worse than a Bread Van! If we use his example and measure the force necessary to maintain vehicle speed at 35MPH, or whatever... we can quickly calculate the energy units required to maintain the speed. Now, we calculate the losses, and we give him every benefit by using minimal losses in each category.. engine, drive train and rear wheel. All of a sudden we realize that the energy in a gallon of gasoline is no where near enough to achieve the feat, and all we needed was 8th grade math to prove it.

It's not often you find a good DIYer who is a Free Luncher. A DIYer is 'hands on' and he is in touch with reality.

HARARE, Zimbabwe – A U.N. agency says Zimbabwe will need humanitarian aid this year after crop failures caused a grain shortfall of about half a million metric tons.

The World Food Program said Wednesday that one-third of the country's districts — mainly in the south and east — failed to produce enough food to meet their needs in coming months.

Some 1.5 million people received food handouts in each of the first four months of this year.

Erratic rain — too much in some areas and too little in others — has damaged crops of corn, the staple food across the southern African nation. The former regional breadbasket also has been hit by acute shortages of seed and fertilizer.>

Now how does a country go from being a gross exporter of food to a third of its country needed handouts?

"Land reform". Sound familiar? ("healthcare reform")

What happens when the government tries to re-distribute wealth? What happens when the means of production are taken from the producers and given to those who believe they have a right to it, but neither built it nor have the capacity to do anything with it?

foot note #1: Socialist and Progressives are generally mechanically challenged people. They either pay people to look after their equipment, or it goes without maintenance of any kind. Anyone catering to the DIYer movement should avoid making sales to these people at any cost. They often read about a Lister Type and think it can run fever without maintenance. When it fails they'll tell you it's your fault because you didn't tell them to add oil to the crank case. Never knowingly buy a car from a socialist unless you get the service records!
