Dallas Texas to auction cars off on Ebay?

recently posted, hope it’s true…

Get ‘em off the road WITHOUT making ‘em show proof of nationality. Wonder how the ACLU or the Justice Department will get around this one??
Dallas TX’s solution to Illegals…    Now somebody’s put their thinking cap on !!!!

Recently, in the City of Dallas, Texas, they passed an ordinance that if you are pulled over by law enforcement and not able to provide proof of insurance, your car will be towed right away. Afterwards, to retrieve your car after being impounded, you must require proof of insurance to have your car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars that are typically driven by mostly illegals.  Shortly after “No insurance” ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up quickly and was full after nine days. Most of the impounded cars were driven by illegals. Not only must you provide proof of insurance to have your car released, you have to pay for the cost of the tow, a $350 fine, and charged $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot. I would suggest other cities across the nation follow what Dallas is doing. Not only is it getting uninsured drivers off the road, but it is taking away vehicles driven by illegals that have no insurance.

        Brings tears to my eyes…

      Hi Dennis,
seems this is pretty strong evidence it’s true! For readers, note that Texas has a >HUGE< number of DIYers. self sufficient types that normally fidn solutions to their problems. It's little suprise they found a solution to this one. So I wonder... will the Illegals go to Austin where they are likely more welcome? If you got scrap metal in Dallas to sell, you better get it to salvage and paid for BEFORE the glut causes the price to go down. Thanks for the fun link Dennis!

The required uninsured motorist insurance used to be a small amount added to the preimum….not any more! The state(oregon) won’t enforce the required insurance laws we have so they just let the Insurance companys bill us for the states inability to take care of buisness. My plan is to disable the auto with no insurance that hits me if I am able to. ….. Then they can lock my ass up!….Sounds good anyway….

I’m only 43, but I know that in Kansas where I grew up and a bunch of other states there was no requirement for insurance only a few years before I began driving. It is surprizing to me that something that was viable until the early 80s is impossible to consider now.
The washington socialist elite feel that we need health insurance. Their reasoning is that without it a person is likely to mooch off government later in life. I fear that in the future people my age will be marveling that once Americans got by fine without health insurance. By that time they will have passed a law mandating a third type of insurance. Possibly food insurance for when you are broke and hungry.

If they wanted to fix the uninsured motorist problem, it would be easy. Simple require prepaid, non cancelable insurance, and issue the tag for duration of the policy. You could have a system where you skate with the traditional plan until you cancel it or let it lapse. Then you have to go prepaid. The problem with this is that there is much more money to be made off of selling uninsured policies to responsible people than there is from selling minimum coverage to lowlifes.

I don’t think the new ordianance has as much to do with insurance as it has to do with the federal government sticking it’s nose where it doesn’t belong. There are states who were represented by people we elected that are too inept to understand the implications, or they were outright federalists. They decided to give away our state’s rights to the Feds. An example is the ‘Clean Air Act’. Our rights were terminated, and now we see politically appointed people placed into positions in the EPA that effictively rule over us. Some of the tripe you see posted at the EPA and CARB are junk science, but they support further transfers of power, money, and influence to themselves.. what a fricken suprise!

This is the first I have heard of this but I back it 100%. Being a victim of non insured illegal drivers twice in the past three years, as a Texan I am pleased that something is being done to address this. I lost my beloved truck of 15 years the first time and then insulted by the low-balled insurance settlement. My insurance premiums have almost doubled in the past two years just because I happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and all I can do is grin and bear it. Maybe this ordinance will keep fellow Texans from becoming fellow victims.
We have to remind ourselves that operating a vehicle on a public roadway is a privilege that carries personal responsibility, not a god given right.

Those who support open borders and illegal imigration should have to tender all the legal claims against drivers who are here illegally. I think it might be a good move on the part of Texas to use the profits from sales of cars impounded to start such a fund. Any money left over could be used for legal expenses to fight the Feds in court… they give us little beyond lip service when in comes to this entire issue.

    Totally true – but the laws/ordinances were effective as of 2009;

Maybe they should impound the illegals in the local jail and charge their relatives 50 dollars a day for food and lodging and a 1000 dollar fine for being in our country illegally!!!!

  6. Marty Ann says:

WHO COMPILED THE STATISTICS THAT SHOW THAT MOST UNINSURED MOTORISTS ARE ILLEGALS? WHAT WAS THE PLAN TO DISPOSE OF “ABANDONED” CARS THAT ARE NOT RETRIEVED FROM IMPOUND? WAS THIS A PLAN TO GET ‘ILLEGALS’ OFF THE ROAD OR TO PROTECT INSURED MOTORISTS FROM LOSS BECAUSE OF ACCIDENTS THAT WERE THE FAULT OF UNINSURED MOTORISTS? IS THIS JUST ANOTHER KNEE JERK REACTION BY PEOPLE WHO BLAME ‘ILLEGALS’ FOR ALL THIS COUNTRY’S ILLS? HAVE YOU ASKED ANY ONE DIRECTLY WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS? HAVE YOU ASKED THESE QUESTIONS? ARE YOU JUST PASSING ALONG SO-CALLED INFORMATION THAT WAS MANUFACTURED OUT OF THIN AIR BY SOMEONE SUFFERING FROM A MAJOR CASE OF PARANOIA OR BIGOTRY? JUST WONDERING.

    • George B. says:

Marty Ann, well, we know you can post, but can your read?? Why not follow the link Dennis posted? If you have a Bitch, take it up with the people of Texas, and yes I do know you don’t think they have the right to make illegals illegal, but hey, their name implies they are illegal whether you think so or not.

Since they’re paying the bills, I figure they have a lot more say in how things are done than you do.
