Alternative fuels for the Lister and Chinese Horizontal

This is just another educational page for your reading enjoyment. Just about everything discussed on this page is bound to be illegal, or it would void every engine warranty ever written.  

 As of 02/2006, there are a few folks I know that have run as many as 7000 hours on veggie oil and it is a fact that most diesel engines have no trouble at all burning properly made biodiesel in most engines designed for petrol diesel fuels.

I have no idea how many hours you can run on better veggie oils that are properly prepared, but I now accept it as fact that you can run veggie in an engine like the Lister CS for a good long, and if you ever do need to replace the rings, or even other wear parts, you will have offset the cost of replacing these parts many times.

If you run waste veggie, what's in it? If you don't know, expect the worst. It's all about taking the time to learn who is doing it, and who is doing it right. There are countless variables, and you will not be successful unless you are either very lucky or study up on the subject.

The bottom line is this...........all engines wear regardless of the fuel used, sooner or later, you will need to replace parts. If you can run thousands and thousands of hours on veggie, an you pay little for it, it will certainly pay to take a few hours to to rebuild the engine when needed. The Lister CS is about as easy to work on as an engine can be.

There are folks using the Chinese Horizontal to burn alternative fuels, but I have heard less from them.
